Gainesville Police seeking information on anniversary of Homicide

Date: Friday, December 22, 2023 On December 25, 2013, Ricardo Lopez Mata, 27, was found deceased in the 600 block of South Weaver Street. Police located the victim after responding to a call of shots fired in the area. This December 25th will mark the ten year anniversary of Mr. Mata’s death. We believe there are people out there with information that could assist with the investigation. We ask that they search their conscience and come forward with any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant. The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact the Gainesville Police Department by calling (940) 668-7777, or through Facebook at Facebook.com/GTPolice. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Crimes Tip Hotline at (940) 612-0000. It is important to note that a complaint, arrest, or indictment should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
